The SonicWALL content filter is a simple hardware-based solution for schools, libraries and companies to block websites based on keywords such as games and sex. The system works by querying a database hosted by SonicWALL for a requested domain. The site will then either be blocked, or allowed depending on what categories have been blocked on the device.
The filter has been known to incorrectly categorise sites as "violence/hate/racism" or "pornography" , . It is possible to check a sites rating, and then change it if required by going on to the SonicWALL website .
